Privacy Policy — SheetMuse
Effective Date: July 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to SheetMuse. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our mobile applications for iOS and Android and related services ("App"). SheetMuse is operated by Step-in CTO ("we", "us", "our"). By using SheetMuse, you agree to the practices outlined in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of information:
Account Information: When you create an account or sign in — including via Sign in with Apple — we collect your name and email address through our authentication provider, Clerk.
Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the App, including features accessed, songs practised, duration of use, and diagnostic data.
Session Recordings: To improve the App, we record in-app interaction sessions (screen recordings of App usage). Text you type and images are masked and are not captured in these recordings. These recordings relate to your use of the App only and do not access your device outside the App.
Device and Network Information: Details about the device used to access the App, such as device model, operating system version, app version, unique app identifiers, and network request telemetry (used for diagnosing performance issues).
Band Session Information: If you join a live band session, we process a session identifier and a display name/member label, which are visible to other members of that session in real time.
Purchase Information: If you purchase a subscription, the transaction is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We receive confirmation of your subscription status but never your payment card details.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to:
Provide and maintain the App's functionality, including your account and synced content.
Enable real-time band sessions with other users.
Process and manage your subscription.
Improve, personalise, and expand our services.
Understand and analyse usage patterns and trends, including through analytics and session recordings.
Communicate with you, including responding to support requests and sending important updates.
4. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share information only with service providers who process it on our behalf and who are required to protect it to the same or an equal standard as described in this policy:
Poduct analytics and session recordings (hosted in the United States).
Account authentication and user management.
Real-time messaging that powers live band sessions.
Subscription payment processing and Sign in with Apple.
Server hosting and content delivery infrastructure.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to respond to valid requests from public authorities.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Account Information is retained for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your account information is deleted from our authentication provider and our systems.
Usage Data and Session Recordings are retained in accordance with our analytics provider's retention schedule and are then deleted or aggregated.
Band Session Information is transient and is not retained after a session ends, other than in aggregate usage analytics.
Purchase records are retained as required for tax, accounting, and legal purposes.
You can delete your account at any time from within the App (Settings → Account → Delete Account). You may also request deletion of your account and associated data, or withdraw any consent you have given, by emailing matt@stepincto.com. We will action verified requests within 30 days.
6. Your Data Protection Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including under the GDPR, UK GDPR, the Australian Privacy Act, and the CCPA), you may have the right to:
Access the personal information we hold about you.
Request correction or deletion of your personal information.
Object to or restrict our processing of your personal information.
Request data portability.
Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us via email at matt@stepincto.com. You will not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
7. International Data Transfers
Our service providers store and process data in the United States and other countries that may have different data protection laws than your country of residence. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for these transfers.
8. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your personal information from unauthorised access or disclosure, including encryption of data in transit. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage can be guaranteed 100% secure.
9. Children's Privacy
Our App is not intended for individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Tracking
We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not share your personal information with data brokers or advertising networks.
